Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration

This year is a big year at the Disneyland Resort as Disneyland marks 70 years since it opened its gates to guests on July 17, 1955. To commemorate the occasion, Disneyland will be kicking off their big 70th celebration on May 16, 2025 and the celebration will run through summer of 2026. There are lots of fun entertainment options, changes coming to attractions, characters in new outfits, special merchandise, and more. So let’s get into everything you can expect from Disneyland’s 70th celebration!

***This post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase using these links, I may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you! ***

First things first, you need to book your trip to experience this celebration, and the best way to visit the parks for the best price possible is to book your trip with my travel partner Get Away Today. They have the lowest prices on Disney tickets that are also refundable, plus amazing deals on Anaheim area hotels like extra nights free and reduced rates, as well as having a Peace of Mind plan that allows you to make any necessary changes to your trip without paying any penalties, giving you ultimate flexibility when planning your next Disney vacation as well as having a Layaway Plan option where you pay $200 down and make payments toward your trip as you can. You can get started with booking your next Disney trip here!

To sweeten the deal, Disneyland is offering a special ticket offer to celebrate the 70th celebration! When you book with Get Away Today, you can get tickets for as low as $94 per day when you purchase 4 day, one park per day tickets and under $120 per day if you purchase 3 day, one park per day tickets. You can add park hoppers and lightning lane multipass to these tickets as well for an additional cost. This deal won’t last long, and is only valid for travel May 16-August 14, 2025. Click here to take advantage of this special 70th anniversary ticket offer!

If you aren’t able to take advantage of the anniversary ticket deal, then you can get adults tickets at kids prices, just click here to take advantage of this amazing deal but act fast, this deal is only available until May 19, 2025!

Now that we’ve covered how to experience this celebration for less, here’s what you can expect:

Characters

Mickey and friends are getting makeovers to match the 70th with all new colorful looks! You can find Mickey and friends in their new looks at Town Square at the end of Main Street USA in Disneyland, so stop by to meet them and grab a picture!

Entertainment

Paint the Night Parade

In my opinion, this is the best entertainment option that Disneyland has ever had. The Paint the Night Parade was introduced 10 years ago for Disneyland’s Diamond celebration, and is coming back for the 70th this year. This parade is like a more modern take on the Main Street Electrical Parade. This nighttime parade has more than 1 million LED lights, beautiful colors and floats, special effects, stunning characters and costumes, and the catchiest song! This parade includes characters from Peter Pan, Frozen, Toy Story, Cars, Monsters Inc., Beauty and the Beast as well as other princess like Rapunzel and Cinderella, characters from Finding Nemo as well as Tigger, the Genie, and of course Mickey and some of his friends. This parade will likely have two performances each night along the normal parade route in Disneyland and trust me, you will NOT want to miss this one.

Wondrous Journeys

Another fan favorite nighttime spectacular is returning to Disneyland. The Wondrous Journeys fireworks and projections was brought to the park back in 2023 for the 100th celebration of the Walt Disney Company. This show reflects 100 years of animation from the Walt Disney company with so many amazing stories over the years including Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Moana, Frozen, Tangled, Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Big Hero 6, Up!, Encanto, and more! This show is beautiful, and easily one of my favorite firework shows so make sure you take one night of your trip to see this one. You can view this show on Main Steet USA, at Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, on the facade of “it’s a small world”, and along the Rivers of America. Projections will happen nightly, and fireworks will happen on select dates like weekends or daily during the summer. Check the Disneyland app to see if fireworks are happening that night.

Tapestry of Happiness

This is a new entertainment option coming to Disneyland specifically for the 70th. This show will bring to life the facade of “it’s a small world” with an animated mosaic of Disneyland attractions, moments and memories portrayed in the art style of the iconic Mary Blair. It will feature a new song that will have nods to other popular Disneyland songs over the last few decades. No word yet on how often this will be happening, but we should be getting more information about the entertainment schedule as the celebration gets closer.

Celebrate Happy Cavalcade

A new cavalcade is coming to the Happiest Place on Earth for the 70th and will feature Mickey and friends, as well as new characters that have never been seen at Disneyland, including characters from Duffy and friends! This fun little cavalcade will celebrate decades of happiness in the park and will feature fun and upbeat music, and will only be a few minutes, not a full on parade. These will typically happen a few times a day, so check the Disneyland schedule for that days specific show times.

World of Color Happiness!

Inspired by Walt Disney’s opening day speech at Disneyland, this new World of Color show will feature Joy and the other emotions as they take you through a performance with moments and music from various Disney and Pixar movies including The Incredibles, Turning Red, Tangled, Encanto, a Goofy Movie, and more. This show will also feature new music from Boys II Men and FITZ from Fitz and the Tantrums. There will also be a new preshow ahead of the performance with some of the beloved characters from the Muppets

Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! Parade

Returning to California Adventure is the Better Together parade that debuted during Pixar Fest in 2024. This parade features floats and characters from several beloved Pixar movies including Luca, Up, Turning Red, and more. This parade will likely happen twice a day running along the route from the Paradise Gardens park up past Carthay Circle and into Hollywood Land, check the Disneyland app for that days showtimes.

Celebrate Happy at Carthay Circle

Much like with “it’s a small world” in Disneyland, the facade of Carthay Circle will be brought to life with music, projections, and lights every night. This will be a quick little show, likely only a few minutes, but will be a fun thing to see as you pass by. Check the Disneyland app for that days showtimes.

Attractions

“it’s a small world”

A few changes are coming to “it’s a small world”, the first one is that Miguel and Dante from Coco are being added into the attraction. They will be there when the attraction reopens on April 25. Then, on July 17 the third verse of “it’s a small world”, written a few years ago by Richard Sherman, will debut for the first time as it is added to the soundtrack for the attraction.

Walt Disney- A Magical Life

When you enter the Main Street Opera House, they will have an amazing display honoring Walt Disney and his vision for Disneyland. There will be images, artifacts, and art that show his process of dreaming up and creating Disneyland. Over 30 items have been selected to be displayed from the Walt Disney Family Museum for guests to enjoy during the celebration, including items from Walt’s apartment located above the fire station on Main Street. Along with these amazing displays, you will also be able to learn about the advancements of audio animatronics in the parks.

Along with these displays, you will also be able to experience Walt Disney-A Magical Life which will debut on July 17. This show will go through the story of Walt’s life through remastered footage and audio recordings, as well as using an audio-animatronic of Walt himself as he shares stories and wisdom. At the end of the show, as guests enter into the lobby they will be able to see how Disneyland is moving forward in the years to come.

A Tribute to the Sherman Brothers

When you visit the Main Street Cinema, you will be able to watch a three minute video about the Sherman Brothers called “The Last Verse” which is a celebration of their iconic song they wrote for “it’s a small world.” This video will show the importance of the Sherman Brothers and their amazing contribution to Disneyland.

Toy Story Midway Mania

Midway Mania will also get a little 70th makeover as you play the game, keep an eye out for some of the nods to the 70th celebration as you compete with your friends and family.

Anniversary Decor

All throughout the resort, there will be new 70th anniversary decor for the celebration. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle will receive a beautiful makeover with tapestries and a gold medallion for the70th, the esplanade between the entrances to Disneyland and California Adventure will have a beautiful Sleeping Beauty Castle statue with a tribute to the five original lands in Disneyland, the flower Mickey in front of the train station will have banners and buntings to match the theme, and a new display with Mickey and Minnie at Town Square at the end of Main Street USA.

Carthay Circle in California Adventure will also be decked out for the celebration, and you’ll also be find decor items throughout Downtown Disney and at the Disney Resort hotels.

Food offerings

The 70th is also bringing quite a few seasonal food offerings to help celebrate the occasion. Most of the food items can be found in Disneyland, but there are also a few items to check out in California Adventure as well as Downtown Disney and the Disney Resort Hotels. I have created a FREE printable foodie guide for you to take to the parks to help you keep track of them all, which you can find below! I have also included all of the collectible novelty items that are being offered as well as where to find them in the parks.

Let’s be honest, Disneyland can get really busy Let’s be honest, Disneyland can get really busy and sometimes there’s just too many people, so here are some of my favorite spots to escape the crowds at Disneyland:

- Tom Sawyer Island
- Seating area behind Thunder Mountain
- Seating Area next to Ship to Shore Marketplace
- Pathway behind Harbour Galley
- Back corner of Bayou Country
- Back corner of Toontown
- Seating area by Troubadour Tavern and the Fantasyland Theatre
- Benches at the exit of Space Mountain
- Seating area behind Edelweiss Snacks
- Stairs across from “it’s a small world”

Other locations that can be hit or miss:
- Fantasy fair area (at certain times of the day)
- Tables next to the Casey Jr Circus train (not during meal times)
- Snow White’s Wishing Well (can be hit and miss with character meet and greets)
- Mark Twain River Boat- if there’s not a ton of people on your sailing
- Second floor of Golden Horseshoe- avoid mealtimes and it’s usually great, you don’t have to eat to go in there
- Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough- you’ll have to downstairs and if there’s several groups doing it at the same time, you can feel a little cramped in the hall ways
- Main Street Cinema is usually a great spot, but has become a little more popular with the new show for the 70th
- Main Street Opera House- this is a great spot if you aren’t in there right before a show is about to start, as people will sit around and wait to be let in
- Adventureland Treehouse- usually not too busy but not a lot of space if it is
- Tiki Room outdoor seating- if there’s several groups isn’t a show soon, this spot can sometimes be pretty empty

Take whatever time you need 💛 Things in the wo Take whatever time you need 💛

Things in the world feel heavy and scary. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself and your mental health.
24 years since that awful day. I still remember ho 24 years since that awful day. I still remember how I felt that day, even as a young child, and that will always stick with me. The fear. The grief. The uncertainty. The devastation.

But another thing I will always remember is the good that still existed, even in such a dark time in the weeks and months that followed afterwards. I remember the helpers. The good deed doers. The ones who reached out to those who needed it. Who risked their lives, who put aside their differences and loved each other. I remember the unity that followed that day. And it was beautiful. Was it perfect? No of course not. We’re human, and there will always be error. But it was still amazing to see people being good to each other even after such a horrific event.

I so desperately want to see just a glimpse of that unity again. Not just for our country, but the entire world, to try to work together to bring about something positive in the face of such horrible events that seem to constantly be happening.

Our world has descended into unnecessary violence, hatred, and intolerance. Is this what we want for us? Is this what we want for our children? Is this a future we are okay with?

Tragedy has a weird way of putting things into perspective. Helping us realize what’s important. Helping us see what changes need to be made. And it feels like recently, everywhere you look is one tragedy after another. When are we going to realize that during times like this, we have to come together instead of becoming more divided?

It’s down to ALL of us to be better and make our country and our world a better place. Even if we can’t make huge changes on our own, we can each do our part in our own lives to be more tolerant and understanding, loving and accepting, and doing what we can to bring about change. Through it all, be a good deed doer. Be a helper. Be willing to hear and learn from others, even if you disagree. Be willing to voice your opinion and strive for change. Be loving. Just be a good person.

If we can make it through that horrible event 24 years ago, we can surely find a way to make it through the dark times we’re walking through now. But it takes all of us. Together.

Drop any questions you have in the comments!
I get this question in some way or another pretty I get this question in some way or another pretty frequently. As my handle implies, I am an introverted person, and yes the crowds at Disneyland make me very anxious at times, though not for that reason.

My anxiety in crowds at Disneyland began almost 10 years ago when I experienced a very sudden and severe onset of OCD a week before I left for a Disneyland trip. And unfortunately, my OCD is germ based and involves a severe phobia of vomiting. Seeing it, hearing it, experiencing it myself, doesn’t matter. Even if someone looks sick will trigger it.

And that first trip was so hard. My hands were raw from how much I had been washing them leading up to that trip, hoping I wouldn’t get sick and miss my trip. I was lathering my hands in all sorts of creams and wore gloves to sleep to try to offset the only physical manifestation of my inner struggle. But every photo from that trip bears that reminder of how bad I was doing. You can see in these photos I frequently have my hands tucked up near my body or clasping them together to avoid touching anything I didn’t have to, trying to make myself as small as possible to avoid getting sick. I was analyzing everything around me constantly, every person near me, avoiding every garbage can, not touching any surfaces, making extremely frequent visits to the bathroom to wash my hands to avoid catching anything. It sucked.

Fast forward almost a decade and I’m happy to say I’ve made a lot of progress, but those same fears and behaviors have stuck around. I’m still super anxious at Disneyland, even though I love it so much, I cannot turn off that part of my brain. But luckily, being an introvert has paid off and helped me naturally find some ways to alleviate that anxiety and have a more enjoyable time in the parks. And going forward, I’d love to share what works for me in the hopes that if you need help too, it can benefit you as well.

Whether your an introvert trying to make the parks more manageable, or you too struggle with mental health challenges that make it harder to enjoy the park fully, ask any questions you have in the comments and I’d be happy to share what I can 💛

Halloween Time has officially kicked off at the Disneyland Resort and will run through October 31!

I’ve got a FREE printable foodie guide for you to take to the parks, just comment “FOODIE” and I will send you the link!

Wanting to plan a visit to Disneyland sometime bet Wanting to plan a visit to Disneyland sometime between now and the end of 2026? You’re going to want to book NOW. Here’s why:

1️⃣ Prices are going to go up. Every year, usually in October, Disney raises their ticket prices. Booking now locks in the lower ticket price so even if you aren’t visiting until next year, you’ll still be paying the cheaper 2025 ticket prices instead of the higher 2026 prices that are coming.
2️⃣ Most availability for hotels. The sooner you book, the easier it will be for you to get into the hotel and room option that you want without them being booked out.
3️⃣ If you are wanting to stay at a Disney Resort Hotel, you will want to visit by January 4, 2026 so you can take advantage of early entry. Starting January 5, 2026 Disney has announced that they will no longer offer the perk of early entry, even if you are staying at a Disney hotel. If you’re wanting that perk, book for 2025 before it’s gone.
4️⃣ Right now, my travel partners @getawaytoday are offering Adults at Kids prices tickets on all 3 day or longer tickets, which is also based on the current 2025 prices, so you’ll be saving as much money as possible on your tickets!

Want to get started booking your trip? Head to the link in my bio where it says “book your Disney trip,” check out my “Disney deals” highlight bubble, or call 855-GET-AWAY to talk to a travel expert at Get Away Today and tell them the Rambling Introvert sent you!

Got questions about planning your trip or about Disneyland in general? Drop them in the comments!
Yep you heard that right, early entry is soon to b Yep you heard that right, early entry is soon to be a thing of the past at the Disneyland Resort, starting January 5, 2026 early entry will no longer be offered for guests staying at a Disneyland resort hotel. Instead, each guest will receive one lightning lane that can be used on any lightning lane multipass attraction.

Based on the wording on the Disneyland website, that sounds like ONE lightning lane for your entire stay and no I don’t think that will be valid for Rise of the Resistance or Radiator Springs Racers since they are not included in Lightning lane multipass.

Any Disneyland resort hotel stays between now and January 4, 2026 will still be able to take advantage of early entry on these schedule dates:

Disneyland Park: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
Disney California Adventure Park: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday

Tell me your thoughts in the comments! Do you think this is smart or a bad move? Will you stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel now that this perk is gone?
If you’re visiting the Disneyland Resort between If you’re visiting the Disneyland Resort between now and Halloween and are not attending Oogie Boogie Bash, you need to know these dates!

If you are planning to visit California Adventure on any of these dates, the park will close at 6 pm to all non ticketed guests, so if you have single park per day tickets, I would suggest you change your park reservations so you are in DCA on non event nights and do Disneyland on any dates that have Oogie Boogie Bash. If you have park hopper tickets, I would recommend starting your day in DCA and then around 3 pm when the mix in hours start for those with Oogie Boogie Bash tickets, park hop over to Disneyland and finish out your day there.

If you have any questions about Oogie Boogie Bash or how that may impact your trip if you aren’t attending, drop those in the comments!

With Lightning Lane Multipass, you can only ride e With Lightning Lane Multipass, you can only ride each attraction one time, BUT during Halloween Time there is an exception to that rule!

From now until October 31, if you purchase Lightning lane multipass you can get a Lightning lane for the normal Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout and then also get one for Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark!

To do it, just make sure you get a return time for Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakfout that is BEFORE 2 pm. Then the attraction will close for an hour and reopen at 3 pm, then you want to get a return time ant time after 3 pm for Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark.

On normal days, this attraction is typically open until 10 pm, but on Oogie Boogie Bash nights it will only be available until 6pm, so if you’re in DCA on an OBB event night, you will only have from 3-6 pm to get on to Monsters After Dark.
You heard that right! Guardians of the Galaxy: Mis You heard that right! Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout will now switch over to Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters after Dark starting TODAY in California Adventure!

Every day, Guardians will open as the original version and then close at 2 pm, then reopen at 3 pm as the Monsters After Dark overlay. This overlay will run for the duration of Halloween Time, so make sure you go ride it while you can!

We had a solid chunk of the day where we couldn’t use our lightning lanes due to plans we already had, so we could have easily booked more return times on a normal day without those plans and reservations. This was also a day in the park that was not super busy so we were able to get on a lot more things compared to the day before when it was busy and we got more use out of lightning lane multipass.
