Review of the Cambria Hotel & Suites Anaheim Resort

When you’re planning a Disney vacation, there are so many options when it comes to where to stay and a lot to consider when choosing the right place for you. One of the hotels at the top of my wish list of where to stay is the Cambria Hotel & Suites Anaheim Resort and recently, I was given the opportunity to stay there, so I’m going to give you everything you need to know about what this hotel has to offer and why this would be an excellent spot for you and/or your family to stay during your next Disney trip.

Hotel Overview

The Cambria is a brand new, 352-room hotel located one mile from the Disneyland Resort. This hotel is designed with families and extended stays in mind and it shows with their spacious rooms with an in room min kitchen, double showers, and more. This hotel has on site dining and complimentary breakfast, as well as an indoor bar and outdoor patio/lounge and several nearby restaurants to choose from to fit everyone’s preferences. The Cambria has a 30,000 square foot waterpark including a pool, kiddie pool, hot tub, splash pad, and water slides firepits as well as a poolside movie wall where they project movies for guests to enjoy in the evenings. Guests can purchase a shuttle for $6 per day to get to and from Disneyland and there is a shuttle stop right at the corner of the hotel for convenient shuttle pickup and drop off. Now that you know the basics, let’s get into this a little more so you can decide if this is the right spot for you and your family.

Rooms

The Cambria has many different room types to choose from based on your family size and needs:

  • 2 queen standard room- sleeps 4
  • 2 Queen, Sofa Bed One Bedroom Suite- sleeps 6
  • 1 King, Sofa Bed, Bunk Bed One Bedroom Kid’s Suite- sleeps 7
  • 1 King, 2 Queen, Sofa Bed, Bunk Bed, Trundle Bed 2 Bedroom Family Suite- sleeps 11, includes a bathroom in each room

Double queen one bedroom suite beds
Sink and tub/shower combo
Double queen one bedroom pullout couch
Double queen one bedroom suite mini kitchen
Bathroom
Double queen one bedroom table and sitting area

All standard rooms include a coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave while suites include a mini kitchen that has a sink, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, as well as a small table and chairs. All rooms have a double shower with a shower/tub combo in the same room as the sink and a shower in a separate room with the toilet, which makes it great for families to be able to get ready in the mornings. All rooms include free WiFi and an HDTV. Kid’s and family suites include bunk beds which are always fun for families with kids. All rooms have a closet to store your luggage and clothes, and are very spacious and give you plenty of room to relax after a long park day.

Amenities

Along with having multiple room types to choose from, the Cambria has so many amazing amenities that guests can enjoy with their stay including:

  • Double showers in each room
  • Complimentary WiFi
  • Free full breakfast
  • Shuttle available ($6 per day)
  • Mini kitchen with coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator
  • Laundry
  • Outdoor Pool
  • Hot tub
  • 30,000-square-foot water park
  • Movie wall
  • Fire pits
  • Splash lounge
  • Exercise Room
  • In Room Internet Access
  • In House Restaurant

Waterslides
Pools
Poolside Movie Screen
Firepits
Splash Lounge
Dining area

The hotel also has a small market to grab treats, water, and more in the lobby in case you need something quick on the way in from the parks or in the morning on your way out. The pools are open year round as well as 24/7 access to the fitness center.

Location

The Cambria Hotel is about one mile away from the Disneyland Resort, so all it takes is a quick shuttle or Uber/Lyft ride to the parks or you can go just down the street on Katella to the Toy Story Lot and go through security there and take their shuttle to the parks. There are several restaurants surrounding the hotel like The Habit Burger Grill, Luna Grill, Ono Hawaiian BBQ, Starbucks, Jersey Mikes, and more that are just on the other side of the parking lot of the hotel. The freeway on ramp is also right next to the hotel so you can quickly jump on the freeway to get to other locations like Knott’s Berry Farm, an Angel’s Game, the beach, and other nearby locations.

Honest Review of the Hotel

During my stay, I stayed in a 2 Queen, Sofa Bed One Bedroom Suite and I loved the room. For a family, this would be more than enough space for everyone and the mini kitchen is a huge thing for me to have in a room. I really loved the double showers in the room which would be highly convenient if you have multiple people who are trying to get ready at the same time. When I travel, I rarely use any dressers or anything like that to store my clothes, I just keep them in my suitcase but if you are someone who likes to pull their clothes out, each room does have a closet you can use but that is really the only storage in the room so that is one thing to keep in mind when you stay here.

One of my favorite features of this hotel is the extra level of security that they have in place. This was my first trip on my own so I was a little worried about being in a room by myself, but at the Cambria you have to have a hotel key to use the elevator, so no one can use the elevators and go up to the upper floors unless they are a hotel guest which I really liked. You also have to have a room key to pull in and out of the parking lot. I loved how close the ART shuttle stop was to the hotel and my feet were so happy to not have to do a long walk home after long park days. Initially I was worried about the distance from the park, but honestly it wasn’t even an issue at all, I actually loved using the shuttle to get back instead of being close enough to walk.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I have wanted to try this hotel since it was built and I was so happy to finally get to experience it. It’s clean, roomy, modern, and has everything you could need in a hotel. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone booking a Disneyland vacation, whether you are traveling alone, as a couple, or as a family, this hotel is the perfect place to stay!

When purchasing your tickets through Disney, a few When purchasing your tickets through Disney, a few things you need to know before you purchase:

1️⃣ How many days are you visiting, and do you need a single day ticket or a multi-day ticket?
2️⃣ Single park per day or park hopper tickets? Park hoppers are more expensive, but offer more flexibility to switch between parks starting at 11 am.
3️⃣ Which park are you wanting to visit? You need to select which park you’ll be in for the day(s) of your ticket, and if you have a park hopper tickets, you’ll select which park you’ll start your morning in.
4️⃣ Are you wanting to add lightning lane multipass to use lightning lanes and have shorter lines? You can add that to your ticket when purchasing which locks in the lowest price of $32 per ticket per day, or if you skip it but change your mind, you can always purchase multipass on the day of your visit. 5️⃣ If you cannot use your ticket, you cannot get a refund if you only purchase tickets. Try changing your dates and cancel your reservations and make new theme park reservations. If your tickets expire, see if you can apply the value of your tickets to new tickets.
6️⃣ Single day tickets use a tiered ticket system. Each date has a tier assigned to it. If you have a single day ticket and need to change the date you visit, you must use your ticket on a date that is the same number tier or a lower tier.
7️⃣ When you purchase your tickets through Disney, your theme park reservations are made at the same time when you select your dates.

Have you ever done the goat stare on Thunder Mount Have you ever done the goat stare on Thunder Mountain at Disneyland? 🐐

When you get to the top of the big hill, keep your eyes on Billy the goat holding dynamite in his mouth on your right. As you go around the curve, turn your body so you’re staring him down the whole time, this makes this corner feel way more intense and so much more fun! You’ll get the best results from the goat trick if you are in the very back of the train, row 15 is the pristine spot to do it!

Tell me, do you do the goat stare or do you just ride normally?

There’s a lot of chat online about if Blue Bayou There’s a lot of chat online about if Blue Bayou is worth it or not, my opinion? I usually think it is.

I’ve been many times and have had lots of different dishes from steak, chicken, and lamb and I’ve enjoyed them all. My last visit I had prime rib which I did not like and did not think it was worth it and I would also pass on the assorted macarons, but overall, I like Blue Bayou. The ambiance alone is amazing , I highly recommend their chicken gumbo starter, as well as the creme brûlée tart if that is offered as a dessert!

Blue Bayou offers lunch and dinner, with slight variations to the menu based on what meal you have. Blue Bayou does serve alcohol and also offers a Fantasmic! dining package option that will get you reserved viewing for that nights show. These dining packages are only offered on dates Fantasmic is actually showing, and the seating area is front and center for the show.

Blue Bayou is very popular and reservations can be hard to come by. You’ll want to be on the Disneyland app or website at 6 am pst 60 days before the date you want to visit to book your reservation, because they will book out in a matter of minutes. It is also much harder to get tables for large groups, so I recommend breaking your group into groups of 4 or less and book multiple tables using different Disney accounts. If you aren’t able to get a reservation, keep checking back as people may cancel their reservations, and if you still can’t get a reservation before your trip, head to the restaurant that morning or get on the Disneyland app to join the walk up list. It isn’t a guarantee, but it still gives you a chance to get in.

If you have questions about Blue Bayou, or about getting reservations, drop them in the comments! And if you have tried Blue Bayou, tell me what you thought!
