Copycat Mickey Rice Krispies Recipe

The thing I love about Disney is the wide variety of treats they have. From the classic to seasonal favorites, simple treats or specialty treats, everything is always so yummy!

One great option if you’re on the go are their Mickey Rice Krispie treats. This classic treat comes in tons of different flavors, but one of my favorites is the M&M topped ones. So let’s recreate this yummy Disney treat at home!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Rice Krispie treats are one of the easiest things you could ever make. They only require a few ingredients and it’s super easy to make them into magical Mickey treats! Here’s what you’ll need:

• Rice Krispies cereal

• Mini marshmallows

• Unsalted butter

• Vanilla

• Salt

• Milk chocolate chips

• Candy coated chocolate candies

• Mickey cookie cutter

HOW TO MAKE THE MICKEY RICE KRISPIES

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.

Once the butter is all melted, add the entire bag of mini marshmallows. Using a rubber spatula, stir the marshmallows and butter until the marshmallows have completely melted down.

After the mixture is completely melted, add the vanilla and salt and stir to incorporate. Remove mixture from heat.

Next, add in 5 cups of Rice Krispies cereal. Stir into the marshmallow mixture until they’re completely coated. If you like gooey Rice Krispies like I do, stop here. If you want them less gooey, add the 6th cup of Rice Krispies and stir until well combined.

When the Rice Krispie mixture is done, pour the mixture onto a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Then, wet your hands with water and push the Rice Krispies down so they’re nice and even.

Let the tray sit on the counter for a few hours so the treats can set. Once they’re set, take a Mickey shaped cookie cutter and cut out as many as you can fit.

As you cut them out, the bottom side will be more sticky. Place them sticky side up onto another parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Allow them to sit like this for about an hour to set more.

If you want to add popsicle sticks to your treats, now is the time to do it. Stick the popsicle stick about halfway into each treat and allow them to set after.

Once your treats are set, melt the milk chocolate chips in the microwave.

Next, coat one side of each Mickey Rice Krispie with chocolate. I tried dipping the first one and it didn’t work as well. The coating was uneven so I recommend using a spoon and spreading the chocolate on like that. Place each chocolate coated Rice Krispie back onto the cookie sheet.

While the chocolate is still wet, cover the tops of the Rice Krispies with candy coated chocolate candies. Press them on so they don’t fall off. Allow the chocolate to set.

After you’ve coated each Rice Krispie in chocolate, take what’s left of the melted chocolate and put it into a sandwich bag. Snip off the corner so it pipes a tiny stream of chocolate. Drizzle the chocolate in a zig-zag pattern over all the Mickey Rice Krispies. Allow the chocolate to set completely. Enjoy!

Mickey Rice Krispies

Bring a taste of Disney home with this copycat Mickey Rice Krispie treat recipe.
Course: Dessert
Keyword: Copycat Disney Recipe, Disney Confectionary Recipes, Disney Recipe, Disney Treats, Disneyland Recipe, Mickey Rice Krispie
Author: Jess

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 5-6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Pinch of salt

To assemble:

  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • Candy coated chocolate candies
  • Popsicle sticks optional

Instructions

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Once the butter is melted, add the bag of marshmallows and using a rubber spatula, stir often until the marshmallows are completely melted down.
  • Add the vanilla and salt, stir to incorporate and remove from heat.
  • Add 5 cups of Rice Krispies to the butter/marshmallow mixture. Stir until well combined. If you like gooey Rice Krispie treats, stop here. If you want more cereal, you can add the last cup and stir until well incorporated.
  • Dump the Rice Krispie mixture onto the parchment lined cookie sheet. Wet your hands with water and press the Rice Krispies into the cookie sheet. (This prevents them from sticking to your hands- you may need to wet them multiple times.)
  • Allow the Rice Krispie treats to sit on the counter at room temperature for a few hours so they can set.
  • Once the Rice Krispies are set, line another cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Using a Mickey shaped cookie cutter, cut out your treats. The bottom of the treats will be more sticky so place them sticky side up on the second cookie sheet.
  • If you want to add popsicles sticks to your Rice Krispie treats, now is the time to add them but it’s totally optional. Slide them in so that they’re about halfway into each treat.
  • Allow the cut out treats to sit on the counter for about an hour.
  • Next, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave. Using a spoon, coat one side of each Rice Krispie treat in chocolate.
  • While the chocolate on the Rice Krispies is still wet, cover each treat with candy coated chocolate candies.
  • Once all the Rice Krispies are coated, take the remaining melted chocolate and put it into a sandwich bag. Snip off the corner and drizzle chocolate over each Mickey rice krispy treat.
  • Leave the treats to set on the counter for about an hour or until the chocolate is completely set. Enjoy!

Notes

• This should make between 12-15 Mickey Rice Krispies depending on how big your cookie cutter is.

There’s a lot of chat online about if Blue Bayou There’s a lot of chat online about if Blue Bayou is worth it or not, my opinion? I usually think it is.

I’ve been many times and have had lots of different dishes from steak, chicken, and lamb and I’ve enjoyed them all. My last visit I had prime rib which I did not like and did not think it was worth it and I would also pass on the assorted macarons, but overall, I like Blue Bayou. The ambiance alone is amazing , I highly recommend their chicken gumbo starter, as well as the creme brûlée tart if that is offered as a dessert!

Blue Bayou offers lunch and dinner, with slight variations to the menu based on what meal you have. Blue Bayou does serve alcohol and also offers a Fantasmic! dining package option that will get you reserved viewing for that nights show. These dining packages are only offered on dates Fantasmic is actually showing, and the seating area is front and center for the show.

Blue Bayou is very popular and reservations can be hard to come by. You’ll want to be on the Disneyland app or website at 6 am pst 60 days before the date you want to visit to book your reservation, because they will book out in a matter of minutes. It is also much harder to get tables for large groups, so I recommend breaking your group into groups of 4 or less and book multiple tables using different Disney accounts. If you aren’t able to get a reservation, keep checking back as people may cancel their reservations, and if you still can’t get a reservation before your trip, head to the restaurant that morning or get on the Disneyland app to join the walk up list. It isn’t a guarantee, but it still gives you a chance to get in.

If you have questions about Blue Bayou, or about getting reservations, drop them in the comments! And if you have tried Blue Bayou, tell me what you thought!

Not sponsored, I just really love @thekaylascake 😍😍

I love that they offer nationwide shipping for their delicious macarons so you can have a little taste from Disneyland anytime you want! They come packaged so well and taste just as fresh and delicious as they do straight from the stand at Downtown Disney!

If you’ve tried @thekaylascake tell me your favorite treat or macaron flavor!

I love their creme brûlée, fruity pebble, galaxy caramel, and double vanilla flavors! I also dream of their snickers flavor they had when I ordered 🤤

Let’s talk park strategy ↴ When it comes to D Let’s talk park strategy ↴

When it comes to Disneyland, those first few morning hours are critical for setting the tone for your day and knocking out as much as you can before crowds build! So let’s cover some strategies and when they may be best to use:

MY TOP PICK- ADVENTURELAND
✨ Head LEFT into Adventureland and do Indiana Jones first thing. Then hit up surrounding rides like Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain, then head to Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and head up to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Maybe grab a mint julep and beignets too 😉 This is my go to strategy when doing Disneyland!

TOMORROWLAND
✨ My next favorite strategy is going RIGHT into Tomorrowland and heading straight for Space Mountain. Then hit up Star Tours, and Matterhorn. If you have kids, mix in some Autopia and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. And of course grab a cream cheese pretzel for breakfast 😉

FANTASYLAND
✨ My pick if you have young kids, go STRAIGHT through the castle into Fantasyland. Knock out all those Fantasyland rides early before it gets too crowded! Try to do this on a day that Disneyland is not offering early entry, because the lines will already be building by the time you get there if it’s an early entry day. And stop by Maurice’s Treats for a refreshing Boysen Apple Freeze 😉

TOONTOWN
✨ My pick if you have kids who want to meet Mickey and Minnie! Head off to the right side of the castle, all the way back to Toontown and get on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Then hit some of the play areas, Mickey & Minnie’s House, grab some Goody Good Donuts from Cafe Daisy 😉 then do “it’s a small world” on your way out of Toontown.

❌ My one DO NOT do item is rope drop Rise of the Resistance. Yes it CAN pay off, but it can also have a huge line, long wait time, or may not even be open when the park opens. To me, not worth the gamble. Use your morning hours to do other attractions and hit Rise later in the evening, right before it closes.

Tell me how you start your Disneyland days, and if you’ve got park strategy questions, drop them in the comments!

If you are planning on using lightning lane multip If you are planning on using lightning lane multipass on your next visit to the Disneyland Resort, here are the most popular lightning lane attractions that sell out the fastest:

DISNEYLAND
1️⃣ Indiana jones
2️⃣ Space mountain
3️⃣ Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
4️⃣ Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
5️⃣ Matterhorn
6️⃣ Roger Rabbit Car Toon Spin

CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE
1️⃣ Guardians of the Galaxy
2️⃣ Toy Story Midway Mania
3️⃣ Goofy’s Sky school
4️⃣ Incredicoaster
5️⃣ Soarin’
6️⃣ WEB Slingers

Now keep in mind, these are the ones that typically go fastest, but that can always change. Depending on the time of the year, this may change, especially when certain attractions have overlays like when Soarin’ turns to Soarin’ Over California for the Food & Wine Festival, when Space Mountain turns into Hyperspace Mountain, when Haunted Mansion and Guardians get their overlays for Halloween Time, or during the holidays when “it’s a small world” and the Haunted mansion have their holiday overlays.

Always check the Disneyland app frequently if you have purchased lightning lane multipass to keep an eye on return times and book this popular attractions early before they sell out! Any of the attractions listed above should be your top priorities when booking return times, and you can always grab a return time for an attraction and then click the modify option and refresh that screen to see if any sooner return times pop up and change it to a different time. And as long as you don’t cancel that return time, it will not reset your booking clock.
