Mickey Pretzels Recipe

Everyone loves a Mickey shaped treat, and one of the most iconic Mickey treats are the soft pretzels you can find at various carts around the parks!

You just can’t beat the soft, warm inside with the golden brown outside and bits of salt. And whether you prefer them plain, in a dipping sauce, or stuffed with cream cheese, Disney pretzels are an absolute staple when visiting the parks.

So let’s bring a taste of Disney to your own home with my Mickey pretzels recipe. They’re super easy, quick, and not to mention delicious! Let’s get started!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

To make the pretzels, you’ll need:

» Flour

» Sugar

» Salt

» Vegetable oil

» Yeast

» Baking soda

» Butter

» Kosher salt

TO MAKE THE PRETZELS

In a small bowl, combine the yeast and 1 1/4 cups warm water and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.

While the yeast is activating, in a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, and salt stir until completely combined.

Next, add the yeast and oil to the dry ingredients and mix until it forms a dough. If the dough is too dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time or if it’s too wet, add a teaspoon of flour at a time until it reaches the right consistency.

Place the dough on a clean, floured surface and knead until the dough is smooth, about 5-7 minutes. Once it’s smooth, place it in a large greased bowl and cover with a greased piece of plastic wrap. Allow the dough to rise on the counter for about an hour or until it has doubled in size.

Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 450° while you shape your pretzels.

Now you want to roll your dough into thin ropes and begin shaping your pretzels. If you want to make a Mickey shaped pretzel, start by making a large circle and pull the bottom down just a bit to make a head shape.

Next roll out two shorter ropes and shape into circles and attach to the top of the larger circle for the ears.

Roll out another circle and place inside the big head circle. This will create Mickey’s nose and mouth.

Lastly take two short ropes and attach to the inside circle to create Mickey’s eyes. Make sure all the pieces of dough are well attached before continuing. You can wet your finger to help them stick together better.

If you don’t want to take the time to make this Mickey shape, you could do one large circle and two smaller circles for the ears or even just do a traditional pretzel shape.

Next, in an 8×8 pan or large bowl, dissolve the baking soda in 4 cups of warm water and stir until mostly dissolved. I recommend using a pan because it’s flat and will be easier to completely soak your pretzels in. Using a spatula, carefully pick up your pretzel and dunk it in the baking soda water mixture.

Place the pretzels on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and sprinkle with kosher salt. Then put the pretzels in the oven and bake for about 8 minutes until the tops are golden brown.

Once you remove them from the oven, brush them with butter while they’re still warm and, if you like salty pretzels, top with more kosher salt.

And there you have it! Delicious, soft, Mickey shaped pretzels just like the parks!

Mickey Pretzels

Bring a Disney park favorite home with this Mickey soft pretzel recipe!
Prep Time1 hour hr 15 minutes mins
Cook Time8 minutes mins
Course: Dessert
Keyword: Copycat Disney Recipe, Disney Recipe, Disney Treats, Disneyland Recipe, Mickey Pretzel
Servings: 6 large Mickey pretzels
Author: Jess

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 4 cups warm water
  • Kosher salt
  • Butter

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast packet in 1 1/4 cup warm water and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, and salt and mix until well combined.
  • Add the oil and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. If it’s too dry, add water 1 teaspoon at a time. If it’s too wet, add 1 teaspoon of flour at a time until you’ve reached the right consistency.
  • Put the dough on a clean, floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Once the dough is smooth, place it in a large greased bowl and cover with a greased piece of plastic wrap. Allow the dough to rise on the counter for about an hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 450° and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  • In an 8×8 pan or large bowl, combine the baking soda in 4 cups of warm water and stir until dissolved. Set aside.
  • Remove the dough from the bowl and on a lightly floured surface roll into thin ropes. Don’t make them too thick or they won’t bake correctly. Shape the ropes into Mickey, a traditional pretzel shape, or whatever shape you’d like.
  • Once your pretzels are shaped, carefully pick them up with a spatula and dip them in the baking soda/water bath, then place on the cookie sheet and sprinkle with kosher salt.
  • Bake for about 8 minutes until the pretzels are browned. Remove from oven and brush with butter and top with additional kosher salt if you’d like.

Notes

• This recipe will make 6 large Mickey pretzels or about a dozen smaller pretzels.
• Store the pretzels at room temperature in a loosely covered container so they don’t go soggy.
• If the tops of your pretzels go a little soggy, put them on a cookie sheet and broil them for a minute or two until the tops are crisped and brush with butter and add salt if needed before eating.

I hope you enjoy making this classic Disney treat in your own home! Make sure to share with your Disney loving friends and save this recipe so you can make it anytime you want!

✨Tips, tricks & more to help you plan the most magical Disneyland vacation!
📍Utah based
✨Book your trip & discount tickets 👇🏼

If you’re considering attending Oogie boogie bas If you’re considering attending Oogie boogie bash, here are some tips:

1️⃣ Your Oogie Boogie Bash ticket gets you into DCA at 3 pm. Do not purchase an additional park ticket that day. Instead, plan to arrive in Anaheim that morning and relax until you can get into DCA and do your other park days later that week.
2️⃣ While we don’t have ticket sales dates or prices yet, but event dates have been released:
🎃 August 17, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28, & 31
🎃 September 2, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, & 30
🎃 October 2, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, & 31
Plan your trip around these dates!
3️⃣ This is a kid friendly event and if your kids are 2 and under they are free and do not need a ticket. This event also runs until 11 pm so you may need to leave early if your kids can’t make it that long.
4️⃣ When planning your costume, make sure you follow Disney’s costume guidelines and plan according to the weather! Anaheim can still be very warm in September and October so be smart when planning what to wear.
5️⃣ There is a limit of how many tickets you can purchase at once. You can only get 8 tickets per event date per transaction so if you have a large group, have multiple people get on to get tickets so you can get enough for everyone.
6️⃣ Be ready to get on and grab tickets as soon as they’re drop. Tickets do go fast, so be on right as sales open and DO NOT FALL FOR SCAMMERS! Disney is the only authorized seller and can only be purchased on the Disneyland website. If someone says they’ll sell you their tickets, don’t fall for it. They are non transferable and if Disney catches it, tickets can be cancelled at any time. Or even worse, scammers take your money and you never receive anything in return. DONT RISK IT!

I will let you know when ticket sales dates are announced, but if you have any other questions about OBB drop them in the comments!

Here’s what I won’t do: 1️⃣ Share my kids Here’s what I won’t do:
1️⃣ Share my kids online
- This is my number one, non negotiable. My families privacy and safety is my top priority, that’s why you will only see me on here
2️⃣ Premier pass
- I refuse to spend that kind of money just to skip the lines
3️⃣ Buy or try things just for content
- When new merch, items, experiences, or food comes out, I know everyone wants to see it all and hear people’s opinions. But if it’s not something I am interested in or want to try, I won’t do it just for content
4️⃣ Share hotels so I can get a free stay
- Any hotel recommendations I share are based on my own opinions from places I have paid to stay at. I will never try to sell you on a hotel or get you to click links just because I could get a free stay out of it
5️⃣ Share products I wouldn’t purchase myself
- On that same note, I will not share any products or items I wouldn’t personally spend my own money on. I’m not here to make money off of you by getting you to purchase something. I am very picky about which products I share or what brands I work with
6️⃣ Sacrifice family time for content
- My Disney trips are spent with my family. I do not take content trips, and when I’m in the parks with my family, that is my top priority. I gather content as I pass or as we are doing things
7️⃣ Be there for all the big events/openings
- Unfortunately due to where I live, I cannot be in the parks for every kickoff or event and I can’t justify spending all that money to attend
8️⃣ Share Disney style content
- I tried this when I first started my account and it did not go well 😂 I am a simple person, I don’t dress up all cute for the parks, and posing to take photos/videos of myself makes me feel so awkward!

The point? We all have different ways of creating content, and different creators have different things to offer. I definitely don’t measure up to a lot of the other Disney content creators and that’s okay with me! This is such a vast community with so many awesome accounts, so find the ones that help with your questions, needs, etc!

When purchasing your tickets through Disney, a few When purchasing your tickets through Disney, a few things you need to know before you purchase:

1️⃣ How many days are you visiting, and do you need a single day ticket or a multi-day ticket?
2️⃣ Single park per day or park hopper tickets? Park hoppers are more expensive, but offer more flexibility to switch between parks starting at 11 am.
3️⃣ Which park are you wanting to visit? You need to select which park you’ll be in for the day(s) of your ticket, and if you have a park hopper tickets, you’ll select which park you’ll start your morning in.
4️⃣ Are you wanting to add lightning lane multipass to use lightning lanes and have shorter lines? You can add that to your ticket when purchasing which locks in the lowest price of $32 per ticket per day, or if you skip it but change your mind, you can always purchase multipass on the day of your visit. 5️⃣ If you cannot use your ticket, you cannot get a refund if you only purchase tickets. Try changing your dates and cancel your reservations and make new theme park reservations. If your tickets expire, see if you can apply the value of your tickets to new tickets.
6️⃣ Single day tickets use a tiered ticket system. Each date has a tier assigned to it. If you have a single day ticket and need to change the date you visit, you must use your ticket on a date that is the same number tier or a lower tier.
7️⃣ When you purchase your tickets through Disney, your theme park reservations are made at the same time when you select your dates.

Have you ever done the goat stare on Thunder Mount Have you ever done the goat stare on Thunder Mountain at Disneyland? 🐐

When you get to the top of the big hill, keep your eyes on Billy the goat holding dynamite in his mouth on your right. As you go around the curve, turn your body so you’re staring him down the whole time, this makes this corner feel way more intense and so much more fun! You’ll get the best results from the goat trick if you are in the very back of the train, row 15 is the pristine spot to do it!

Tell me, do you do the goat stare or do you just ride normally?
